Adult Stem Cell Transplants
The Stem Cell/Bone Marrow Transplant Program at Dana-Farber/ Brigham and
Women's Cancer Center is one of the largest allogeneic stem cell
transplant programs in the country and among the largest autologous
programs. Our experience with more than 5,000 transplants since
1972 has opened up new avenues of research, targeted treatments,
and supportive care approaches designed to reduce transplant
complications.
In Fiscal Year 2009 (October 2008-September 2009), the adult
stem cell transplant program completed
- 235 allogeneic transplants (using stem cells from a donor)
- 219 autologous transplants (using the patient's own stem
cells)
