  • 14th Annual Young Adult Cancer Conference

A one-day conference for young adults treated for cancer, and their families

    Saturday, April 1, 2017
    8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Yawkey Center for Cancer Care, Third Floor
    Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
    450 Brookline Ave.
    Boston, MA 02215

The Young Adult Program (YAP) at Dana-Farber hosted its annual conference for young adult patients and their caregivers to learn strategies for coping with cancer as a young adult, and meet other patients facing similar challenges. The conference was open to patients treated at Dana-Farber and beyond, as well as their families and supporters.

    Featured speaker:

    Abby Morgan
    Abby Morgan

Abby Morgan had just finished her first year working as an art teacher when she was diagnosed with metastatic synovial sarcoma at 28. Cancer caused many disruptions, but with the support of family and friends, she has adapted to these changes and found great joy in a new role as mother to her young daughter. She shared her journey and cancer's impact on her professional, personal, and creative lives.

Workshops facilitated by Dana-Farber experts included:

    • There's an app for that: technology and coping
    • Straight talk with your team: having the conversations you need with your oncologist
    • What to say…and not to say
    • Caregiving and parenting
    • Breathe now yoga
    • Stitch the stress away
    • Planning for the "what ifs"
    • When a young adult you love has cancer
    • Dancing through cancer
