Sexuality and Intimacy for Men after Cancer Treatment
"Most people have surprisingly few conversations about their intimacy issues, even with their own partners."

Sexuality and Intimacy for Men after Cancer
Changes in sexual functioning, such as loss of desire, erectile dysfunction, or infertility, are common after certain types of cancer treatments, but these changes can be addressed and treated.
What You Can Do
- Talk with your partner. Make sure you both know how each other feels and what you both need at this time.
- Take it slowly. Approach the process of becoming intimate at a pace that's comfortable for both you and your partner.
- Get in touch with your body. Going through cancer treatment can make you feel disconnected from your body, so becoming comfortable with your body again is an important step.
- Get information. Many men experience changes in their bodies and sex lives after cancer treatment.
- Reach out for help, if you need it. Talk with your doctor if you're having problems with your sexual health. He or she can help you explore potential therapies.
- Talk with us. You may also want to consider Dana-Farber's Sexual Health Program, which offers counseling, education, and treatment to help restore sexual functioning among cancer survivors.
