Our Approach to Genitourinary Cancer Treatment

Short placeholder heading

Staffed by medical, urologic, and radiation oncologists, our center offers the latest treatments fueled by ongoing discovery. Our genitourinary cancer experts work together to create an individualized treatment plan that offers each patient the most effective care.

During your first appointment at the center, you'll get a thorough consultation to help determine the best course of treatment for your cancer.

You will have the opportunity to meet with up to three specialists: medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, and urologist. Working with you, these experts will evaluate, discuss, and recommend specific treatments to create a care plan that takes your individual needs into account.

Our team also includes radiologists, pathologists, nurse specialists, social workers, palliative care specialists, psychologists and psychiatrists, sexual health experts, and dietitians. Working together, we provide expert diagnostic services and innovative treatment options, including:

  • Robotic surgery
  • Intraoperative magnetic resonance therapy
  • Dose-escalated intensity modulated radiation therapy, delivered with a unique prostate localization and immobilization device
  • Innovative treatment combinations, including hormone therapy and chemotherapy combined with radiation therapy, conducted as part of rigorously-controlled clinical trials
  • Clinical trials of new cancer therapies

We also run several laboratories that are investigating the molecular basis of all genitourinary malignancies. These research efforts are vital, because basic science is a crucial component in the treatment of cancer. Understanding the basic mechanisms of disease will ultimately translate into better treatment for our patients.
