Plain Greek yogurt is relatively new to the American supermarket, but this type of creamy yogurt has been enjoyed worldwide for generations.

Greek yogurt does not taste sweet, making it very versatile. It has about half the sugar of regular plain yogurt and twice the amount of protein. Greek yogurt is also an excellent source of probiotics, or healthy bacteria, that benefit our digestive system and overall health.

New research is examining probiotics' role in cancer prevention.
