A: Chia seeds have been touted for their high fiber, omega-3 fatty acid and plant-based protein content. Fiber is important for digestive health, and omega-3 fatty acids are an essential nutrient shown to be important for promoting heart health.

Chia seeds are rich in antioxidants, so they are more stable and digestible than flax seeds. They do not need to be ground up and can be stored dry for long periods of time. They can be altered to a gelatinous texture if soaked in water. This makes them a very adaptable ingredient which can be incorporated into most recipes easily.
