President Benz issues statement about Senator Kennedy

Posted date

Dana-Farber President Edward J. Benz, Jr., MD, has released the following statement about Senator Edward Kennedy, whose doctors announced today that he has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor:

"It was only last week that Senator Kennedy was holding hearings to begin work on a major piece of anti-cancer legislation, an effort that could be instrumental in the war on cancer. The distressing and ironic timing of his own diagnosis only emphasizes what a malicious and indiscriminate enemy cancer is. It attacks even its strongest and most effective foes."

"Senator Kennedy has long been a warrior for better health care for all Americans, and we have all benefited from his dedication and unrelenting commitment to this ideal. We now stand with him as he faces this next, more personal battle. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Senator and his family."
