U.S. News and World Report's Best Hospitals Guide has ranked Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center the highest in New England for cancer care for the 14th straight year and fourth overall in the country, one place higher than last year. The rankings are available at health.usnews.com/best-hospitals and will appear in the U.S. News "Best Hospitals 2015" guidebook, available in August.

Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center, a collaboration of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital, is dedicated to providing comprehensive, specialized care for adults with cancer and conducting research directed at developing new ways to prevent, screen for and treat cancer.

"Our caregivers and staff work every day to provide the very best care possible for our patients and families," said Edward J. Benz, Jr., MD, president of Dana-Farber. "We do so in a unique way that combines deep expertise and specialization, knowledge of the underlying biology of cancer, teamwork, and an extraordinary focus on the needs of our patients. It's nice to see this approach recognized by U.S. News."

"Providing every patient a talented and compassionate team is our hallmark and this is a wonderful recognition of our work.  Our robust research program helps us innovate, leading to new discoveries to benefit patients," said Elizabeth G. Nabel, MD, president of Brigham and Women's Hospital.

In June, U.S. News ranked Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center the #1 pediatric cancer program in the country.

U.S. News publishes Best Hospitals to help guide patients using objective measures such as patient survival and safety data, adequacy of nurse staffing levels and other data. For 2014-15, U.S. News evaluated hospitals in 16 adult specialties and ranked the top 50 in most of the specialties.

"The data tell the story — a hospital that emerged from our analysis as one of the best has much to be proud of," says U.S. News Health Rankings Editor Avery Comarow. "A Best Hospital has demonstrated its expertise in treating the most challenging patients."

The specialty rankings and data were produced by RTI International, a leading research organization based in Research Triangle Park, N.C.
