Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is proud to announce that Laurie H. Glimcher, MD, President and CEO, has been recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of this year’s 50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders. The complete ranking is featured in the June 18 issue of Modern Healthcare magazine, and profiles of the winners are available at http://www.modernhealthcare.com/community/50-most-influential/2018/

The recognition program acknowledges physicians working in the healthcare industry who are deemed by their peers and an expert panel to be the most influential in terms of demonstrating leadership and impact.

"From the opioid crisis to dramatic changes in public policy to a shifting reimbursement model, healthcare organizations are facing significant challenges. The physician executives on this year’s list are at the forefront of driving change in the healthcare industry,” said Matthew Weinstock, Modern Healthcare’s managing editor. “The list includes physician executives who are influencing healthcare both locally and nationally. We had an impressive list of nominees this year and getting it down to 50 was not easy, but we believe this list is representative of the transformation that’s taking place in the industry.”

Glimcher has been president and CEO of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute since the fall of 2016.  Previously, she was the Stephen and Suzanne Weiss Dean and Professor of Medicine of Weill Cornell Medicine and Provost for Medical Affairs of Cornell University. From 1991 to 2012 she served as the Irene Heinz Given Professor of Immunology at the Harvard School of Public Health and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School serving as Senior Physician and Rheumatologist at Brigham and Woman’s Hospital. Dr. Glimcher is a distinguished immunologist, widely renowned for her work in one of the most promising areas of cancer research.
