Our Culture of Discovery and Collaboration

Ever since Sidney Farber, MD, devised chemical therapies for treating children with leukemia in 1947, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has forged a groundbreaking path: over 75 years of research discovery, invention, and innovation that have changed the face of cancer diagnosis and treatment.

As a leader in basic, translational, clinical, and population science research, Dana-Farber prides itself on its balanced portfolio: an equal emphasis on research and patient care, regardless of how the emphasis is measured. This distinguishes Dana-Farber from our peer comprehensive cancer centers, which devote more resources to patient care. This also creates a vibrant environment where research is informed by patient care, and clinical care relies on cutting-edge research.

Through major investments in our Strategic Plan Centers, which specialize in areas of translational research, Dana-Farber is well positioned to collaborate with industry to develop new drugs. Many such collaborations are underway, and we welcome new inquiries.
