Dana-Farber ranked New England's best cancer hospital-fourth in the nation-in U.S. news and world report's best hospitals guide

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has once again been rated the best cancer hospital in New England and the fourth best in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.

Produced to help patients decide where to seek medical care, the magazine's annual America's Best Hospitals guide ranks medical facilities in 17 specialties on factors such as professional reputation, technology services, levels of nursing staffing and mortality rates.

"We and our partners work every day to provide the best possible outcome for people with cancer from New England and around the world," said Edward J. Benz, Jr., M.D., president of Dana-Farber. "We are continually striving to bring new, more effective treatments from our laboratories to our patients.

"We're pleased to be rated so highly again, and that the excellent care provided by our collaborators at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital and Children's Hospital Boston has also been acknowledged by U.S. News and World Report," Benz said.

While Dana-Farber had placed among the top five places for cancer care whenever ranked by the magazine, the hospital had not been considered during the last two years due to methodological issues.

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute provides adult oncology care through Dana-Farber/Partners CancerCare, a comprehensive service that combines the expertise of Dana-Farber, Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Dana-Farber's extensive pediatric oncology services are offered in conjunction with Children's Hospital Boston, again ranked first in Pediatrics this year.
