Arizona isn't supposed to be cold

Today, we are riding in the hills of Arizona. A couple of our rested team members joined the morning leg in the middle and set a very brisk pace. It was frustrating because I struggled to keep up and eventually had to cut my ride short.

At night, during our second shift, the temperature dropped to 45 degrees. It was difficult to figure out what to wear. I also noticed that my face had become so stiff from the cold that I had difficulty speaking to a teammate when I tried. The average speed of our night rides has been about 22 m.p.h.

If you would have asked me three months ago if I'd be riding down hills at 35 m.p.h. in the middle of the night right on the back of someone else's wheel, I'd have told you were crazy.
