I've had a longstanding interest in improving our understanding and treatment of lung cancer, the leading cause of cancerrelated deaths in this country. While significant advances have been made in treating other types of the disease, progress in lung cancer has been slow. So much remains to be known.
Through my research, I hope to better understand the underlying causes of lung cancer and develop new therapies. Working at a terrific place like Dana-Farber provides a wealth of opportunity for collaborating with outstanding, highly motivated investigators and oncologists tackling these same problems.
Lung cancer research has become a very exciting field with the recent discoveries of new gene mutations that might play a role in its development. We are on the cutting edge of research and expect many breakthroughs in the next few years that will directly affect the care of patients.
