In Their Words
Patients share their Dana-Farber experience
Written about Katie Murphy, RN, BSN
Staff nurse, Dana 1 infusion
Date received: November 2006
Katie isn't just my nurse; she's become my friend as well. I've been trying to balance chemotherapy and going to college, and she's always there to talk to or remind me of appointments and such. She has met many of my friends and she remembers their names and asks about them. She asks to see pictures of my apartment when I talk about it and even got us a housewarming gift.
She never leaves me feeling like I'm not the only patient she has, even though I know the nurses here are usually swamped. She has even stayed long past her shift ended to talk to me about family issues or to make sure I'm feeling alright. She makes me feel like I'm just stopping in to visit her, not going to the clinic for treatment.
