Who's Who at the Friends Place
Julie Durmis, Director
Julie has been with the Friends Place since before its opening. She has extensive training in post-breast surgery needs, hair loss alternatives, compression therapy garments and retail operations. Julie is a BOC (Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification) Certified Mastectomy Fitter and wig specialist as well as being certified in the Lebed Method, a therapeutic exercise and movement program for those who have lymphedema or are at risk for it. Julie has 29 years of healthcare/retail experience.
Nicole Baglione
Nicole Baglione, Administrative Specialist
Nicole coordinates administrative and financial duties. She has learned all aspects of the operation and provides customer service support. Nicole facilitates our Look Good … Feel Better programs and works her artistry with 10 years' makeup experience.
Mary Liddell, Interim Lead Boutique Technician
Mary Liddell
Mary is our breast surgery and compression garment fitter, BOC certified. She has 30 years of mastectomy fitting and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) experience. She also serves as our in-house seamstress for bras and swimsuits and is available to provide knowledgeable and compassionate fitting services to meet your special needs.
Anabella Guillen, Boutique Technician
Anabella is our wig specialist and truly has a magic touch with wigs. She has been a licensed cosmetologist for 33 years. Fluent in Spanish, she facilitates our Spanish Look Good … Feel Better class. Anabella is available for fittings, wig alterations, cuts, styles, and makeup and skincare tips.
Alicia Scott
Alicia Scott, Inventory Resource Assistant
Alicia is the newest addition to the team. She joined us in January 2009 after five years in retail customer service and management. She coordinates the inventory and outreach resource needs: keeps the boutique stocked with daily supplies, orders and enters patient and stock orders, provides merchandising, and facilitates the CARE bag program. Alicia also conducts breast surgery and compression fittings and supports customer service needs.
Maria Zaroulis, Clinical Administrative Support Specialist
Maria coordinates day to day operations, such as scheduling appointments, answering calls, record keeping, billing, and maintaining regulatory compliance. Knowledgeable in the areas of DME and insurance guidelines, Maria facilitates patient and families needs.
JoAnne Annunziata, Patient Accounting Representative
JoAnne has been in patient accounting for the past three years. She is experienced in revenue control and as an electronic biller. JoAnne coordinates our Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and fitting services billing.
Martie Carnie, Outreach Volunteer
Martie provides support to our breast surgery patients. She acts as a one-to-one liaison as needed, and visit patients during their breast surgery stay at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Martie also assists with the development of outreach programs. She is a 21-year breast cancer survivor, advocate and educator.
Martie was co-chair of the Adult Patient and Family Advisory Council, Facilitator of Quincy Medical Center's breast cancer support group for the past 18 years, an American Cancer Society Reach to Recovery volunteer for 20 years, and a Dana-Farber One-to-One Cancer Connection volunteer. Martie received certifications in the Lebed Method, a therapeutic exercise and movement program for those who have lymphedema or are at risk for it, and as a mastectomy fitter.
John Grenon, Outreach Volunteer
John helps the Friends Place team develop outreach awareness for new chemotherapy patients and for inpatients. He has spent many years visiting nursing homes and hospitals with church groups.
John's brother passed away from pancreatic cancer, and he is grateful to be able to spend some time in semi-retirement contributing to the fight against cancer.
When not working on projects at Friends Place, John can be found one day a week in the Eleanor and Maxwell Blum patient and family resource center.
