Patriots Training Camp 2015 Blood Drive - August 6

  • The drive will take place aboard the Blood Mobile in the Gillette Stadium Fan Zone as follows:

Thursday, August 6, time TBD (immediately following practice)

The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation will host the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Brigham and Women’s Hospital Blood Mobile—the traveling extension of the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center—for a series of blood drives during this year’s Patriots Training Camp.

All donors are welcome to enjoy Patriots Training Camp and Fan Zone prior to or following their appointment and each donor will receive a Patriots gift bag.

The Patriots Charitable Foundation has a long history of advocating for volunteer blood and platelet donations, both at the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center and throughout the region, encouraging all eligible fans to consider making a life-saving difference. Volunteer blood and platelet donors are the only source of these blood products, which are essential for people going through cancer treatment and many other critically ill patients in need of life-saving transfusions.

All blood drives will be open to the public. Due to space and time constraints, advance appointments are strongly recommended and can be scheduled by emailing BloodDonor@partners.org with the subject heading “Patriots” andtwo preferred donation times. In general, to give blood, donors should be at least 17 years old, 110 pounds or heavier, and in good health, and must bring a valid photo ID to their appointment. To learn more about eligibility and the donation process, please call the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center at 617-632-3206 or visit www.dana-farber.org/blooddonation

Revere Beach, Revere
Event Type: Community Outreach, Health and Wellness, Patient Education, Calendar

Committed to the communities we serve, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Blum Van will be visiting beaches across Massachusetts to provide free skin cancer education and screenings this summer. A dermatologist will be on board to provide free full-body examinations and address any skin-cancer related concerns. Participants will receive educational materials, sunscreen, lip balm with SPF, key chains with energy beads that change color in response to UV rays, and Red Sox baseball caps (while supplies last).

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Blum Van, a 39-foot van, is designed to bring Dana-Farber’s expertise in the struggle against cancer to the public, through early detection cancer screenings and several cancer education/awareness and prevention initiatives. Full body examinations will be provided by Brigham and Women’s Hospital dermatologists.
