Our Services
We approach treatment as a team effort. Contact us to learn more.
Our transplant services include allogeneic transplants with matched family member, unrelated donor, or cord blood cells, and autologous transplants that use a patient's own cells.
Our program offers a full range of comprehensive care and services, including:
- Consultation, confirmation of diagnosis, and review of treatment options
- Access to both conventional and innovative treatments and clinical trials
- Complete on-site transfusion and blood bank capabilities
- Psychological evaluation and support
- Radiation oncology services
- New England's only state-of-the-art facility for processing stem cells for transplant, generating cells as cancer vaccines, and preparing cells for therapy
- Access to dieticians, social workers, support groups and other resources
- A detailed, step-by-step guide to every aspect of the transplant process to help you be as prepared as possible for the experience
We also collaborate with each patient's local hematologist or oncologist throughout treatment and post-transplant care, and can help arrange follow-up care closer to home.
Conditions Treated
We're dedicated to care that takes into account the individual needs of patients and their families.
Advances in research and clinical practice, along with an increase in national and international marrow and cord blood registries, have made stem cell transplant effective in a broader range of diseases, including:
- Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL)
- Acute myeloid leukemia (AML)
- Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)
- Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML)
- Congenital disorders of blood production (sickle cell anemia, thalassemia),
- Hodgkin's lymphoma
- Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
- Multiple myeloma
- Myelodysplastic syndrome
- Waldenström's macroglobulinemia
- Myeloproliferative disorders (polycythemia, myelofibrosis, thrombocythemia)
- Testicular cancer
- Autoimmune disorders
- Other malignant and nonmalignant disorders of blood and bone marrow
What Our Patients Say
Amy Woodbury talks about her experience as a stem cell transplant patient at Dana-Farber. Watch her story.
"Looking back, having a transplant made all the difference. It was my best option. The chemotherapy, full body irradiation, and transplant weren't so bad. I would do it again in a minute if faced with the same challenge."
– Autologous stem cell transplant patient
"The path is harder than anyone can prepare you for but it is also more empowering and amazing to see what you can accomplish. I felt awful for awhile, but now when I wake up and feel good, I have a whole new appreciation of what life means."
– Allogeneic stem cell transplant patient
"I am amazed at how well I felt through most of the treatment. The fatigue and loss of appetite were hard. But it does get better. And I keep focusing on what I have to do now, this moment, as an investment in my future."
– Reduced-intensity transplant patient
"From day one, my daughter's doctor, nurse, and the rest of the team welcomed our participation. They didn't just humor us. They were on board with us as demanding parents."
– Mother of a stem cell transplant patient
"The stem cell guide is a fabulous resource. None of us want to be cancer patients, but if I have to be, I want to be informed. As I prepare for my transplant, I know a lot more about what I'm getting and why."
