In 2009, before joining the Friends, Carrie generously began to donate her time to Dana-Farber as an institutional board member reviewing cancer clinical trials. She serves on three institutional review board panels to review Phase I clinical trials and amendments to protect the rights, safety, and well-being of human research participants. Carrie said, “The cutting-edge research that is being done to alter how we battle cancer is truly remarkable. Over the years, I have learned a tremendous amount about all different types of cancers from the best researchers and doctors in these meetings. Dana Farber is changing the way we approach and fight cancer to give hope to patients and their families.”

Carrie’s friendship with past president and current governing board member, Jean Pearlstein led her to the Friends in 2015. She has volunteered in support of our Key to the Cure, Evening with Friends, and patient services programs. In 2019, she joined the Executive Committee as Co-Vice President of Patient Serves and now serving as our Co-President. Carrie said “I have enjoyed being part of a group of extraordinary women and to help in raising funds to support the Friends’ mission. It is a privilege to see all the hard work this organization does to support research, women’s cancer programs, patient services, and oncology fellowships.

Through her philanthropy, she has enjoyed years of the Presidential Symposium and is a member of the Dana-Farber Society. In 2023, she was awarded the prestigious Sidney Farber Volunteer Award.
