Dana-Farber's facilities also include accredited marrow and peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) collection centers, a transplant center that facilitates donor searches for Dana-Farber patients patients, and a Cord Blood Donation Program which facilitates the collection of cord blood at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Our donor center facilitates approximately 120 marrow and blood stem cell donations per year for patients here at Dana-Farber and throughout the United States and the world. And our transplant center performs more than 300 donor transplants per year for Dana-Farber patients. Since 1972, Dana Farber physicians have performed more than 5,000 transplants.
Our donor center:
- Recruits potential donors throughout New England to the Be The Match Registry;
- Educates donors about the registration and donation process; and
- Acts as donor advocate, looking out for the donor's best interests throughout the recruitment, matching, and donation processes.
Our recruitment efforts focus on increasing the diversity of tissue types available and registering donors who are committed to helping any patient in need. We work with families, communities, businesses and other groups to raise awareness and recruit committed individuals to join the donor registry.
Before joining the Be The Match Registry, we ask that you review the information on these pages to ensure your commitment to the many patients searching for their miracle match.
