Friends of Dana-Farber

Established in 1976, the Friends of Dana-Farber is an all-volunteer organization of more than 1,500 members which provides patient services, educational activities, and fundraising. Funds raised by Friends are allocated for research fellows and treatment programs throughout all divisions and departments at Dana-Farber, including nursing, social services, and pastoral care.

October 21 – 24, 2010

The Friends of Dana-Farber kicks off the Saks Key to the Cure shopping fundraiser with a "brunch by the bite" and "Catwalk for the Cause" fashion show featuring the hottest trends for fall 2010.

Friends' Golf Classic

This golf tournament at Spring Valley Country Club supported cutting-edge research at Dana-Farber, including the Lowe Center for Thoracic Oncology.

Surprise Party

In its third year, this Friends event honored Dana-Farber trustee Billy Starr and included a moving musical finale by folk music legend Richie Havens.

Chefs Cooking for Hope

Friends of Dana-Farber's 12th annual "Chefs Cooking for Hope" featured delicious food from Boston's top chefs.

Dancing for a Cure

This annual holiday event of dance, song, and inspirational performances benefits breast and ovarian cancer research at Dana-Farber.

The Friends Networking Event

This social networking event was held in the Foundation Room at the House of Blues. It was a free event geared to the young set (ages 25-45) who learned how to become a member of the Friends in a fun and social setting.

In tough economic times, the Friends of Dana-Farber were steady in their commitment to raising funds for cancer research and care. Through its members' hard work, the Friends amassed more than $1.7 million for the Institute in 2009.

Since its founding in 1976, the Friends has given more than $18 million to expand the Institute's cutting-edge research and care initiatives. Now, the 1,500-member organization is renewing that commitment by pledging $1 million to establish the Friends Head and Neck Cancers Research Fund as part of Dana-Farber's planned comprehensive capital campaign.
