Chefs Cooking for Hope

Hope never tasted so good

"Mmms" echoed around the rotunda of 125 High St., in downtown Boston on March 5, 2009, followed by exclamations of "You have to try this," and "I wish I had room for more," as nearly 400 patrons came out to satisfy their palates in support of a good cause at the 11th annual Friends of Dana-Farber’s Chefs Cooking for Hope event.

With a range of mouthwatering morsels including lobster bisque, pistachio-encrusted lamb chops, sweet Maine shrimp salad with blood orange and arugula, chocolate mouse, cheesecake made with goat cheese, and the trifecta – cupcake confections from three different bakeries – there was something for foodies and regular folks alike.

Friends Event Co-Chairs Nikki Lank Bialow, Nanci Gelb, Lesley Prowda, and Terri Tsagaris were thrilled to have more than 50 restaurants, caterers, and beverage companies volunteer their food and time. In addition to ticket sales, a silent auction – with items announced by special guest Dan Andelman of Phantom Gourmet – and a raffle raised more than $50,000 to support cancer research and care. Special guest 7NEWS Anchor Frances Rivera drew the grand prize raffle winner of an authentic Nokona baseball bat signed by Boston Red Sox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka.
