Surprise Party
2011 date to be determined
The third annual Surprise Party was held April 29 to benefit Friends of Dana-Farber, an all-volunteer organization of more than 1,200 members. Funds raised by Friends are allocated for oncology fellowships, patient services, and cutting-edge research and treatment programs throughout all divisions and departments at Dana-Farber, including nursing, social services, and pastoral care.
Institute Trustee Billy Starr, founder and executive director of the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge (PMC), was honored for his more than 30 years of support to Dana-Farber. The evening included performances by The Works, singer/songwriter Coby Brown, and a moving finale by folk legend Richie Havens. The evening raised more than $310,000 to benefit the Friends.
