Dana-Farber relaunches its website for improved user experience

  • New features of Dana-Farber's relaunched website help patients and families find information they need

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has relaunched its public website at www.dana-farber.org with a new, feature-rich design and improved search engine optimization.

Each year, over 4,400,000 people — patients and families, referring physicians, researchers, and donors — visit dana-farber.org. The new website will provide an even better way for users to get the information they need quickly, no matter what device they are using. The site incorporates larger, more engaging graphics and text, and allows for greater visitor interactivity with the site's content.

"One way we can help make Dana-Farber accessible to people around the world is through the web," says Steven Singer, senior vice president for Communications. "It is often the first stop for a newly-diagnosed patient or family member, or for someone seeking timely and trustworthy information about cancer, cancer treatment, or cancer research."

With the new design, web visitors also have simpler access to features they need in order to take action. Features include: Find a Doctor, Find a Clinical Trial, Explore Cancer Types, Make an Appointment, Plan Your Visit, Seek a Second Opinion, and many others. The new site also provides capability for users to sign up for blog alerts or newsletters as well as to order a Care Card for patients.

Among the relaunched website's enhancements is its "responsive design," which displays the site to scale on mobile phones and tablets. More than half of the visitors to Dana-Farber's website are now doing so on phones or tablets.

    The refreshed website's enhancements include:
