Dana-Farber/Boston Children's again ranked among the best pediatric cancer programs in the nation

U.S. News & World Report has named Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center  the #2 pediatric program in the nation in its 2023-24 Best Children's Hospitals report. Dana-Farber/Boston Children's has been recognized as one of the top three pediatric cancer centers in the country each year since the ranking's inception.

“It is an honor for our program to be recognized again by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top pediatric cancer programs in the country,” said Scott A. Armstrong, MD, PhD, President of Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s. “Our outstanding team works tirelessly every day to provide amazing clinical care while also conducting world-class research, to improve the lives of our patients and their families.”

Dana-Farber/Boston Children's offers the combined expertise of both a world class cancer center and an internationally renowned children’s hospital that have provided comprehensive care for pediatric oncology and hematology patients since 1947. The Harvard Medical School affiliates share a clinical staff that delivers inpatient care and surgery at Boston Children’s and most outpatient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Williams, MD, Chief, Division of Hematology/Oncology, Boston Children’s Hospital, and Leland Fikes Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School said, “This ranking is a testament to our exceptional teams and programs that are working relentlessly for our patients and families and are laser-focused on improving treatments for children with terrible diseases through research and outstanding care.”

U.S. News, together with RTI International, a North Carolina-based research and consulting firm, collects and analyzes data from 119 children’s hospitals and surveys thousands of pediatric specialists. Children’s hospitals awarded a “Best” designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, level and quality of hospital resources directly related to patient care and expert opinion among pediatric specialists.

“For 17 years, U.S. News has provided comprehensive information to help parents of sick children and their doctors find the best children’s hospital to treat their illness or condition,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News.
