Recent studies had suggested that hormone-blocking therapy for prostate
cancer could raise the risk of fatal heart attacks. Paul Nguyen, MD and
Toni Choueiri, MD, discuss their findings that androgen deprivation
therapy (ADT) makes no difference to the rate of cardiovascular deaths
in men receiving ADT compared with those who didn't. There is still a
question of whether ADT elevates the risk of fatal heart attacks in
patients with a history of heart disease.
