At the Lank Center for Genitourinary Oncology, our goal is to conduct clinical investigations that will improve our ability to diagnose and treat patients with all genitourinary malignancies.
Our clinical research activities are an integral part of our work and treatment at the Lank Center today and will improve the lives of our patients tomorrow.
Outstanding clinical care is directly related to active research. Our ongoing clinical trials use new combinations of therapies that can benefit our patients and answer our physicians' and researchers' questions.

We know that analyzing patients' clinical information during treatments today will enhance our clinical care and outcomes in the future. To better understand our two most-treated diseases, prostate cancer and renal cancer, we initiated two research studies to collect and store data and biological samples from our patients. These studies led to the Prostate and Renal Clinical Research Information Systems (CRIS) databases.
The databases enable our physicians and nurses to ask scientific questions that address the needs of our patients.
For new patients
Our physicians and researchers are engaged in research studies involving many of our patients, including:
- investigations of prevention and early-detection strategies
- assessment of new therapies
- quality-of-life studies
- analysis of tissue and blood samples to better understand the biology of the malignancies and relation to patient outcomes.
