Vaginal Cancer
Cancer of the vagina is an extremely uncommon malignancy in women. It represents 1 to 2 percent of all cancers of the reproductive tissues. The most common type, squamous carcinoma, arises within the lining cells of the vagina. The most common symptom of vaginal cancer is discharge, which is often bloody. Generally, radiation treatments are the preferred method of therapy for cancers of the vagina. However, surgical management can be employed in select cases of early disease.
