Office for Faculty Development

The Office for Faculty Development (OFD) was established in 2007 to help ensure that Dana-Farber’s faculty thrives, both scientifically and personally. OFD provides an organizational framework for responding to faculty needs and interests in areas like career development, work environment, and other topics that affect professional satisfaction and growth.

OFD promotes the career development of faculty by offering career-enhancing seminars and information on professional development, awards programs, and promotions. A primary focus of the OFD is expanding mentoring opportunities for faculty. In addition, two faculty committees focus on issues of clinical faculty and women faculty. Currently, they are addressing issues such as professional development, faculty recruitment/retention, promotion, and work-life balance.

Gloria Spivak Faculty Support Fund

A flagship effort of the OFD, The Gloria Spivak Faculty Support Fund provides needed funding to faculty awardees encountering family challenges that could otherwise hinder their scientific work.
