The Global Health Initiative at Dana-Farber/Boston Children's brings together faculty, fellows, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and public health experts who are involved in international projects on childhood cancer and blood disorders.

Our mission is to improve the lives and enhance the care of children with cancer and blood disorders worldwide.

Our global activities include ongoing efforts to establish partnerships with sites in low- and middle-income countries and are centered around three objectives:

  1. Research
  2. Education
  3. Capacity Building

GLOBE Program

The Pediatric Global Oncology and Blood Disorders Education (GLOBE) Program hosts visiting pediatricians and nurses from developing and underdeveloped countries. The GLOBE Program is an observership experience in which participants attend patient rounds and other clinical activities, as well as participate in teaching conferences under the supervision of a staff physician or nurse. During their stay, GLOBE Scholars are also expected to design or participate in a clinical, quality, or research project of their own under the mentorship of a staff physician or nurse.
