Ambassador Brinker presents keynote address at Dana-Farber dinner

Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker, founding chair of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, presented the keynote address at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Aesclepian Society dinner on Thursday, May 7.

"Society looks to science and medicine to alleviate suffering. And science looks to society for the funding and public support that make discoveries possible. Dana-Farber's presence here reminds us that no disease is cured in a laboratory alone," said Brinker, adding, "Dana-Farber has been on the cutting-edge of breast cancer for as long as I've been in this field."

The dinner, held at the Four Seasons Hotel Boston, recognized Dana-Farber and Jimmy Fund supporters who have made one-time commitments of $1 million or more.

"We are very grateful for the support we have received over the years from Susan G. Komen for the Cure," said Susan S. Paresky, senior vice president for Development at Dana-Farber. "Their most recent gift this year is enabling Dana-Farber physician-scientists to accelerate the study of treatment disparities in breast cancer and expanded clinical trials of promising pre-operative therapies."
