Dana-Farber launches leading edge TV broadcast and production studio

Posted date

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has officially opened its new Communications Studio, which includes an upgraded on-site HD TV broadcast camera system with leading-edge Enhanced IP™ transmission technology. This new system will eliminate the need for dedicated fiber lines and allow Dana-Farber to share the latest cancer treatments and research with audiences around the world via the internet.

“Having the ability to feed live interviews directly to television stations using the very best in broadcast technology ensures that we can have Dana-Farber physicians and researchers provide their perspective and expertise during the influential first news cycle,” said Steven R. Singer, senior vice president of Communications at Dana-Farber. “This is critical because there is an ever-growing demand for news analysis, and the rapid pace of television news requires a nearly instantaneous response.”

Dana-Farber has once again teamed up with VideoLink to provide it’s ReadyCam® HD broadcast transmission system. The state-of-the-art TV studio also includes a production and editing facility, making it possible for Dana-Farber to feed raw and edited footage as well as to prepare and feed b-roll.

“Dana-Farber is recognized internationally for first-class cancer care,” says Rich Silton, President and CEO, VideoLink. “We are excited to partner again with them to provide reliable access to national and international broadcast networks as well as video production resources.”

The new studio is fully equipped with a broadcast quality lighting grid. It also provides multiple backgrounds for TV and still photography, including library, exam room and doctor’s office “sets” and makes available an 80” TV monitor to project images behind interviewees.
