Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center names Dr. Dennie Jones as new medical director

Dennie Jones, MD, has been named medical director of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. Dr. Jones served previously as Deputy Director of the Markey Cancer Center at the University of Kentucky and Medical Director of the Markey Cancer Center Affiliate Network, the regional association of community-based cancer clinics, as well as Chief of Thoracic Medical Oncology at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Jones completed his residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and completed a fellowship of Medical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas. His new appointment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center is effective August, 25, 2014.

"I am immensely honored to have been named to this position," said. Dr. Jones. "This is an exciting opportunity for us to bring together the resources from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Steward's St. Elizabeth's Medical Center to benefit the community."

Dr. Jones succeeds Dr. Leslie Martin who has led Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center since 2010.

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute provides the latest hematology and medical oncology care to patients at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. The partnership between Dana-Farber and St. Elizabeth's enables patients to receive the benefit of Dana-Farber's advances in care and research at their local hospital. Dana-Farber teams at St. Elizabeth's and in Boston collaborate to review cases and develop the optimal treatment plan for patients.

"In addition to being a talented clinical scientist with academic interests in lung cancer and health disparities, Dr. Jones is renowned as a compassionate physician and a dedicated teacher of medical students, residents, and fellows," said Dr. Andrew Norden, medical director of Satellites and Network Affiliates at Dana-Farber. "I am delighted that he has decided to lead our program at DFCI at SEMC, and I am confident that he will be successful."
