Blood donors needed during the holiday season to help patients at Dana-Farber and Brigham and Women's Hospital

Posted date

A shortage of type O blood is affecting The Kraft Family Blood Donor Center which provides life-saving blood products to patients at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Low blood supply levels are expected to be further depleted over the course of the holiday season and the Kraft Center is asking all eligible donors to give blood during this time period.

Fewer donations are made during the holidays and New Year’s due to regular donors traveling, but the need for blood products at both hospitals remains. Blood donated at the Kraft Center supports both patients at Dana-Farber going through active cancer treatment, as well as BWH services such as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), a Level One Trauma Center, and treatment of high-risk pregnancies conditions such as Placenta Accreta.

The Kraft Center is located in the Longwood Medical Area. Make your appointment by emailing BloodDonor@partners.org or by calling the Kraft Center at 617-632-3206.
