Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the best for cancer care in New England for the 19th straight year. This year, Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center is ranked #5 in the nation.

The annual U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings and ratings, now in their 30th year, are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to obtain care for challenging health conditions or for common elective procedures.

“This recognition speaks to the skill, compassion and commitment of our staff to patients and families and we are very grateful for their extraordinary efforts,” said Laurie H. Glimcher, MD, president and CEO, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. “We continuously work to provide the highest quality care possible to all our patients and their families and in developing new treatments for patients around the world.”

Dana-Farber is dedicated to a unique and equal balance between cancer research and care, translating the results of discovery into new treatments for patients locally and around the world.

"This ranking is a testament to the dedicated professionals at the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center, who work together as one team with a singular focus on conquering cancer and transforming the future of cancer care through scientific research, discovery and innovation. We are immensely proud of them and the hope that they bring to those touched by cancer around the world," said Betsy Nabel, MD, president of Brigham Health.

For the 2019-20 rankings and ratings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. In the 16 specialty areas, 165 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty.

The U.S. News Best Hospitals methodologies are based largely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates, volume, and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.
