Newsweek Names Dana-Farber #3 in the World for Cancer

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has been named one of the world’s very best cancer hospitals by Newsweek in its new World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2021 rankings. Dana-Farber was ranked number 3 globally, the only hospital in New England to be ranked in the top 20 for oncology.

In this first edition of the World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2021, the ranking identifies and honors the very best hospitals internationally that specialize in cardiology, endocrinology, and oncology.

“This recognition is especially meaningful as it is based upon the expertise of medical professionals from around the world,” said Laurie H. Glimcher, MD, president and CEO, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. “It is a testament to the excellent care provided by our teams of clinicians, as well as the leadership role our faculty and staff play in advancing our understanding of cancer and developing new therapies for this devastating disease.”

Newsweek partnered with Statista Inc., to offer readers independent, authoritative, and reliable rankings of which hospitals or medical centers have state-of-the-art facilities and the most knowledgeable, accomplished physicians.

The oncology ranking features the world’s top 200 hospitals. The rankings are based solely on peer recommendations for specific areas of expertise from a global survey of medical professionals. Each list includes a ranking of the 50 best global hospitals, while the remaining hospitals are listed alphabetically.
