Statement on House Health Care Plan

Posted date

On behalf of cancer patients everywhere, I am relieved that the House of Representatives did not put forward its health care bill. The bill would not have improved healthcare in America, but would have reduced the number of people able to get critical medical care and strained our entire healthcare system.

I am hopeful that Republicans and Democrats will find a way to work together to refine and strengthen the Affordable Care Act (ACA).  It has become clear in recent weeks how much the ACA has done to provide millions of Americans wider access to healthcare, and how many lives it has already saved. Now, we all…medical providers, insurers, legislators, and others…need to work together to make it even better.
