Pediatric Global Oncology

The Global Health Initiative — a program of Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center — is working to establish centers of excellence in the developing world and train the next generation of leaders. Its mission is to increase the survival of children with cancer and blood disorders, worldwide.

Our Mission

Cancer knows no borders. It is the second leading cause of death globally.

Through partnerships, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Center for Global Cancer Medicine (CGCM) strives to reduce the global cancer burden in resource-limited settings by developing oncology care delivery systems that aim to build capacity through teaching, professional development and research – all with the goal of providing high-quality patient care.

Our Vision

To increase global equity in cancer care by sharing knowledge, expertise, compassion, and accompaniment.

Addressing the Global Cancer Burden

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Center for Global Cancer Medicine was established in 2012 and operates in tandem with the non-profit Partners In Health; in collaboration with several other cancer centers in the United States; and through long-term partnerships with the Butaro Cancer Center of Excellence in Rwanda and the University Hospital of Mirebalais, Haiti. Members of CGCM have also contributed to the work of the World Health Organization and the Union for International Cancer Control, among other organizations.

We support advancing cancer care in low- and middle-income countries — from global policy to providing care in local clinics.
