Biography
Jennifer M. Snaman, MD
Jennifer Snaman, MD, MS, is an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School and an Attending Physician in pediatric oncology and pediatric palliative care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Boston Children’s Hospital. She developed a four-year combined Pediatric Hematology/Oncology (PHO) and Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Medicine (HPM) Fellowship training at St. Jude. She served as Chief Fellow for the PHO fellowship before coming to Dana-Farber in 2017.
Her research interests include communication and decision making in adolescent and young adult (AYA) patients with advanced cancer and early parental grief following the death of a child from cancer. She developed MyPref, an adaptive conjoint analysis-based decision and communication tool used to quantify and communicate medical treatment preferences in AYA patients with high-risk cancer. Through her partnership with bereaved parents, she has worked to illuminate the early bereavement experience following the death of a child from cancer with the goal of developing and testing additional supportive interventions. She became the Director of Pediatric Palliative Care Research at Dana-Farber and Boston Children’s Hospital in 2023 and co-leads the Palliative Care and Resilience (PCAR) Lab together with Drs. Abby Rosenberg and Joyce Yi-Frazier. Her research is currently supported by grants from the American Cancer Society and National Cancer Institute.
