Psychosocial Oncology Fellowship Track

Program Overview

The Dana-Farber Psychosocial Oncology Fellowship Track provides advanced training in consultation-liaison psychiatry and the psychiatric care of adults with cancer and serious illness.

Offered through the one-year Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and VA Boston Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship, the track includes specialized clinical experiences at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and prepares fellows to care for patients across the cancer continuum. Fellows develop expertise in psychiatric assessment, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, interdisciplinary collaboration, palliative care, urgent consultation, teaching, and scholarly work.

Important Update for Applicants:

Beginning in July 2027, the psychosocial oncology track will move to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and VA Boston Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship. Applicants for the 2027–2028 academic year should apply through the BIDMC and VA Boston C-L Psychiatry Fellowship Program.

For fellows entering in July 2027 and beyond, oncology-focused clinical training will take place at Dana-Farber, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, the VA Boston Healthcare System, and Mount Auburn Hospital.

Current fellows in the Dana-Farber psychosocial oncology track will remain in the existing Brigham and Women’s Hospital-affiliated program.
