On May 11, 2023, the FDA issued final guidance regarding an individual donor assessment for all blood donors regardless of gender or sexual orientation. The Kraft Family Blood Donor Center agrees with data-driven changes in blood donation policies intended to keep the blood supply safe. Deferring prospective blood donors based on sexual orientation is no longer supported by data.
We are committed to implementing the FDA’s new final guidance as quickly as possible. The Kraft Family Blood Donor Center is working on changes to our regulated processes that will allow those who were previously ineligible to give in the future, in alignment with the new donor criteria. We expect to be ready with these changes by Fall 2023. Once The Kraft Family Blood Donor Center can implement these changes, our website will be updated. Until these changes are completed, our posted eligibility guidelines will remain in place. Thank you for your patience as we make these very important changes.
When you donate blood or platelets at the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital, or give blood on board the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Brigham and Women's Hospital Blood Mobile, you are making
