Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Massachusetts Coalition for HPV-Related Cancer Awareness to host HPV-Related Cancer Summit

Posted date

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Coalition for HPV-Related Cancer Awareness, will host the Fifth Annual HPV-Related Cancer Summit on Friday, December 1, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA.

HPV (human papillomavirus) is a ubiquitous infection, with nearly 20 million infections in the US alone. It has been linked to 91 percent of cervical cancer and anal cancers, 70 percent of oropharyngeal cancers, as well as penile, vulvar, and vaginal cancers.

The Summit is an annual opportunity for those working in the varied fields of HPV-related cancers to share information and learn from one another. This year’s Summit, titled Moving the Needle: A Coalition in Action from Bench to Bedside, is intended for all medical and dental providers, public health professionals, policymakers, advocates, and anyone interested in HPV-related cancer and its prevention. Presentations will explore the dental professional’s role in HPV prevention, current cervical cancer screening guidelines, HPV prevention in sexual/gender minorities, HPV vaccination updates, and current cervical cancer research studies. During lunch, a variety of educational videos and PSAs will be screened.

For more information or to register, contact the Summit Chair, Eileen Lind at 508-221-4024. The cost is $40 and six nursing contact hours are available.

The Massachusetts Coalition for HPV-Related Cancer Awareness will hold its bi-annual meeting immediately following the Summit for stakeholders from across the State collaborating to reduce HPV-related cancer. Registration is appreciated, but not required.
