Dana-Farber Cancer Institute appoints six new members to Board of Trustees

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute recently appointed six new members to its Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Inc. is the governing body of the organization.

The new members are:

  • Jeffrey Beale, of Salem. MA, is Vice President of Eaton Vance Management and Chief Administrative Officer of Eaton Vance Corp. He joined Eaton Vance in 1992. Prior to his time at Eaton, Beale was Vice President of First Data Corp and has previously been affiliated with the Boston Company, American Express Information Services Company and Putnam Investments.
  • Harvey J. Berger, MD, of Palm Beach, FL, is the Executive Chairman at Medinol, Inc., a global interventional cardiovascular-device company. He served on the full-time faculty of Yale University and Emory University and was the head of R&D at Centocor, Inc. He founded ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a global biotechnology company, and served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for 25 years. He oversaw the development of eight new medicines and an in vitro cancer diagnostic-test — six of which have already been approved for use in oncology, and cardiovascular and autoimmune diseases.
  • Afsaneh Mashayekhi Beschloss, of Washington, DC, is founder and CEO of RockCreek. Previously, she was Managing Director and President of Carlyle Asset Management, and Chief Investment Officer and Treasurer of World Bank. She also worked at Shell and JP Morgan. She has a long history of policy work and investing in venture, renewable energy and health globally.
  • Sam Kennedy is the President and Chief Executive Office of the Boston Red Sox and Fenway Sports Management. Since joining the Red Sox in 2001, he has played an instrumental part of the revitalization of the Red Sox brand, the financial stability of the franchise and the preservation and protection of Fenway Park.
  • Esta Eiger Stecher, of New York, NY, chairs the Board of Directors of Goldman Sachs Bank USA and Goldman Sachs International Bank. She joined Goldman Sachs in 1994 and has served in many roles including Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Goldman Sachs Bank USA. Before joining Goldman Sachs, she was a partner in the Tax Group at Sullivan Cromwell.
  • Lori F. Whelan, of Newton, MA, is the Co-Founder, Chief Operating Partner and Chief Financial Officer of Silversmith Capital Partners. Whelan spent 12 years in strategy consulting and CFO roles prior to co-founding Silversmith. She previously worked at Bain & Company and Berkshire Partners as well as Papa Gino's Inc.
