Grant Announcement

Awarded to: Department of Pathology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Funder: National Cancer Institute
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) Office of Grants Administration (OGA) manages over $3 billion in awards annually to fund cancer research. They direct the negotiation and administration of grants and cooperative agreements supporting scientific institutions, small businesses and researchers worldwide to advance cancer detection, diagnosis and treatment.

Grant Details:
$2.875 million over five years (awarded August 1, 2026)

Grant Purpose:
Dana-Farber, in collaboration with Brigham and Women’s Hospital, has received renewed funding for the Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA Institutional Research Training Grant (T32) from the NCI, providing resources for pathology residents, clinical fellows and Ph.D.-trained scientists pursuing research careers in cancer pathology.

The program provides protected time for research training and career development programming, including salary support for fellows to join research labs of their choice, travel funds to attend and present at scientific meetings and childcare stipends. Program faculty include 37 accomplished research preceptors at Dana-Farber and surrounding institutions whose studies are shaping current thinking in cancer biology and who have exceptional track records as mentors, including eight early career pathology faculty. The grant supports fellows for one to three years and up to six researchers annually.

Going forward, the T32 award will be administered by the Department of Pathology at Dana-Farber. Leading the program reaffirms the institute’s commitment to the next generation of physician-scientists and Ph.D.-trained cancer researchers, and our endeavor to advance discoveries to improve how we diagnose and treat cancers.
