The Young Adult Program (YAP) offers various educational and social events virtually, in-person, and off-site. Some events include socials, game nights, book clubs, art workshops, dating workshops, and parenting workshops.
Our events provide young adult patients with information about issues like dating and relationships, dealing with uncertainty, and managing anxiety. The YAP events also give young adult patients an opportunity to connect with peers.
Information about our events can be found in our newsletter and on iaya, our smartphone app. You can also email yap@dfci.harvard.edu to get the latest updates on upcoming programs.

Virtual Workshop: Healing Through Writing with Elephants & Tea
Wednesday, June 24
6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Virtually on Zoom
The Young Adult Program is hosting a virtual Healing Through Writing Workshop with Elephants & Tea!
Writing and journaling can be helpful strategies toward healing and communicating with others about difficult experiences. Join us and our friends from Elephants & Tea for this virtual interactive session to practice some writing of your own and hear from other young adults who have found writing to be a beneficial coping tool.
This event is open to young adult patients (ages 18 - 40s) with cancer or a blood disorder. This workshop is an opportunity to learn a new skill and connect with other young adults.
Registration is required.
Annual Young Adult Cancer Conference
The Young Adult Program hosts an annual Young Adult Cancer Conference in April. This is a day designed specifically for young adult patients with cancer and their support person(s). This event offers a unique opportunity to engage in dynamic workshops and insightful panel discussions, while connecting with peers. Whether you're seeking support, knowledge, or community, this conference is a chance to connect with others who share similar experiences.
Jimmy Fund Walk
Each year, our Young Adult Program team walks the iconic Boston Marathon route − 5k, 10k, half marathon, or full marathon – or virtually in their communities. All team fundraising proceeds support YAP programs that directly benefit young adult patients and their families.
Social Events Off-Site
The Young Adult Program hosts in-person social events for young adults receiving care at Dana-Farber (those on active and post-treatment). These are casual events that allow young adults to gather in a social setting.
