The DAISY Award in Nursing
Dana-Farber is one of over 5,400 health care organizations and schools of nursing in all 50 states and 35 other countries and territories that participate in the DAISY Award program, sponsored by the DAISY Foundation (Diseases Attacking the Immune System).
The DAISY Foundation established the DAISY Award in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, whose parents created the foundation in Patrick's memory because they experienced firsthand the skills, care, and compassion of nurses in caring for their son.
About the DAISY Award at Dana-Farber
Awarded four times a year at Dana-Farber, the DAISY Award recognizes the extraordinary work nurses do every day. Nurses who are selected as DAISY Award recipients are celebrated for the compassionate and extraordinary care they have provided for their patients and families. Dana-Farber celebrates the Team DAISY Award for nurse care teams, awarded annually.
All nurses nominated for the DAISY Award are recognized with a nomination pin. Recipients of the DAISY Award are honored at a DAISY Award event on their unit and are presented with a hand-carved sculpture entitled, "A Healer’s Touch."
