Communications and Marketing Internships

Dana-Farber Communications and Marketing interns have the opportunity to be part of one of the most robust in-house communications and marketing departments in academic medicine in the Greater Boston area and to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families.

Since our founding in 1947, Dana-Farber has been committed to providing adults and children with cancer and blood disorders with the best treatment available today while developing tomorrow's cures through cutting-edge research.

Dana-Farber's Department of Communications and Marketing supports this important work by performing many of the functions of a full-service, in-house communications and marketing agency. Our team has won numerous awards from the New England Society for Healthcare Communications, the Publicity Club of New England, Women in Communications, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), and others.

We use our communications and marketing expertise to:

  • Build awareness of, and support for, the Institute's life-saving mission
  • Provide communications and marketing services for Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center and Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center
  • Enhance communication with patients and families
  • Help employees work more effectively

Interns in this program will work with a variety of specialized teams over the course of the semester to gain a thorough understanding of the roles and functions that make up Dana-Farber’s in-house Department of Communications and Marketing. These roles and functions include:

  • Branded content
  • Marketing
  • Media relations
  • Internal workforce communications
  • Website management and analytics
  • Social media
  • Client management and strategic planning
  • Administration and operations

As this is a hybrid position, requiring at least one day and up to three days on site in Boston per week, preference will be given to applicants located in the Greater Boston area. Per Dana-Farber policy, the selected candidate may only work remotely from a New England state (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI).
