Clinical and Support Services

Our advanced clinical care and support services include:

Medical oncology and hematology care and outpatient infusion are provided by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Infusion services include chemotherapy, as well as additional medications and treatments (such as hydration). Patients can receive their infusion in private or semi-private "bays," depending on their preference on a particular day.

The genetic counseling program can help guide a personalized approach to treatment and identify a patient's risk of developing other cancers. Our team can also help individuals with a family history of cancer assess their cancer risk.

At the Adult Survivorship Program at Dana-Farber/NHOH, experts work with survivors to develop a personalized care plan. This plan helps survivors and their healthcare providers address their unique medical and psychosocial needs, identify needed screening tests, and manage potential long-term or late effects of treatment.

Dana-Farber/NHOH also offers a number of online resources to help you address the range of issues you may face after treatment, including the changes in the body after cancer treatment: emotional and physical symptom management; legal rights concerning health care and employment; finding support groups; maintaining, repairing, or enhancing personal relationships, and pursuing appropriate follow-up care.

Dana-Farber/NHOH offers monthly second opinion clinics in Londonderry for patients seeking additional discussion of their diagnosis or treatment plan.

Patients have access to clinical trials through Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center, a nationally designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, and one of the largest cancer research programs in the nation. We encourage patients to speak with their health care team about clinical trial opportunities.

Balanced nutrition is an important part of cancer treatment and survivorship. Our registered dietitian works with patients to design a healthful diet that can help rebuild a body's cells and energy level, and manage the side effects of treatment.

Integrative therapies, such as therapeutic touch and Reiki, are available to help alleviate symptoms or side effects from treatment.

The Resource Area offers a variety of materials on cancer topics, including free informational brochures and books you can borrow.

Our oncology social worker can help patients and families cope with the emotional aspects of cancer treatment as well as practical issues. We can help identify community resources such as support groups, transportation and financial assistance programs, and disability benefits.

Our financial counselor helps explain billing policies, determine eligibility for insurance of financial assistance, and contact insurance carriers and other providers on your behalf.

Spirituality or faith may be a source of strength or comfort while undergoing treatment. A designated chaplain serves as part of your care team and is available to offer support and guidance during cancer treatment.

To discuss transferring your care, contact our New Patient Coordinator at 603-552-9100. You will be asked to give some preliminary information over the phone. The New Patient Coordinator will then walk you through the process of obtaining your records and sending them to our office, and will schedule your first appointment.

As a Dana-Farber/NHOH patient, you have access to Dana-Farber's medical oncology services, clinical trials, genetic screening and counseling, social work, nutrition, a resource room, and a survivorship program. Lab, imaging, urgent care, and other services are provided within the same building by Elliot Health System (see the Services section on this page).

If you need to be admitted for in-patient care, you may select the hospital of your choice. In addition to local options, you will have access to Dana-Farber's in-patient services in Boston. You, in consultation with your physician, can make the choice that best suits your needs.

Dana-Farber/NHOH opened December 8, 2008. The unit is located on the Elliot Medical Center's Londonderry campus at 40 Buttrick Rd, Londonderry, NH.

Dana-Farber/NHOH physicians from NHOH practices joined the Dana-Farber medical staff and provide services in Londonderry.

They will work with the other members of your care team - surgeons, radiation oncologists, and primary care physicians - to ensure other aspects of your care are unaffected.

While providing care in Londonderry, they will also continue to see patients at their practices in the Southern and Central New Hampshire region, including Concord, Hooksett, Laconia, and Exeter. A list of each physician's practice locations can be provided upon request.

No. When you are seen at the Dana-Farber unit in Londonderry (or at any other Dana-Farber facility), you are a Dana-Farber patient. If you see these physicians (or any other NHOH physician) at one of NHOH's independent practice locations, you would be an NHOH patient. Similarly, if you were to be admitted to a hospital and receive in-patient physician care from one of the NHOH physicians, you would be an NHOH patient at that time (as well as a patient of the particular hospital).
