About Us

A Model Campus for Advanced Cancer Care and Research

Boston's renowned Longwood Medical Area (LMA) is one of the world's foremost hubs of advanced medical care and breakthrough research. It is here that Dana-Farber established our headquarters, and it is here that we contribute life-saving, cancer care to our patients — as well as world-changing research breakthroughs to cancer researchers throughout the world.

Our interlocking campus of care and research buildings embodies Dana-Farber's philosophy — unique among U.S. cancer centers — of world-class cancer care informing world-class cancer research, and of research feeding back to further inform care.

The six interconnected buildings in our Dana-Farber - Longwood campus also connect to our clinical partners, Brigham and Women's Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital — providing adult and pediatric patients with seamless care coordination.

Yawkey Center for Cancer Care

As a welcoming anchor for Dana-Farber's Longwood Medical Area campus, the Yawkey Center for Cancer Care embodies Dana-Farber's unwavering commitment to compassionate care, treatment innovation, and research discovery.

Created with guidance from many patients and families, the Yawkey Center was built to advance clinical care, optimize patient safety, enhance the patient experience, and provide patients with a welcome and nurturing environment. The Center's 275,000 square feet of clinical and support space accommodates 100+ exam rooms, 150+ infusion spaces, and 20 consultation rooms.

Named to honor the late Tom and Jean Yawkey in thanks for their foundation's leadership support, the Yawkey Center for Cancer Care enhances patients' experience of Dana-Farber's personalized and compassionate cancer care, which is guided by laboratory research, enabled by sophisticated technology, and dedicated to each patient's emotional well-being.

Dana-Farber - Longwood: Fostering Collaboration, Fostering Healing

The Longwood Medical Area campus fosters collaboration between researchers and clinicians, with our treatment centers connected by bridges to their related research laboratories in the Richard A. and Susan F. Smith Research Laboratories Building.

  • The Yawkey Center is home to an expanded Clinical Research Center, where patients have access to a state-of-the-art facility dedicated solely to conducting novel anti-cancer drug trials.
  • And our state-of-the-art Longwood Center offers researchers unparalleled research facilities and assets — where the world's most advanced cancer research is taking place.

Our intense, continuous interaction, learning, and advancement between care and research set Dana-Farber apart among the world's leading cancer institutions. Our goal today and tomorrow: the most advanced cancer treatments that save lives
