Bio

Bill Lotter, PhD, is a faculty member in the Department of Data Science at Dana-Farber and the Department of Pathology at Harvard Medical School. He was previously the CTO & Co-Founder of DeepHealth Inc., where he led the development of two FDA-cleared products that use artificial intelligence (AI) to assist in early breast cancer detection in mammography. These products are currently processing >1M mammograms per year, via the acquisition of DeepHealth by RadNet Inc. Dr. Lotter holds a PhD in Biophysics from Harvard University and a BA in Math, BA in Integrated Science, and MS in Applied Math from Northwestern University. His AI/machine learning experience spans the domains of medical imaging, neuroscience, algorithmic trading, and sports analytics.

Research

Dr. Lotter’s research has two core aims: 1) developing more robust computer vision algorithms using insights from human vision, and 2) applying these algorithms to medical imaging for real-world impact. He aims to realize this impact through collaborative research along the full clinical application pipeline - from algorithm development to ensuring generalization across populations and optimizing clinician-in-the-loop integration.
