Dr. Hisashi Tsukada joined Brigham and Women’s Division of Thoracic Surgery as an Associate Surgeon in 2014. He attended the St. Marianna School of Medicine in Japan, where he obtained his medical degree. He then completed his Surgical Residency at Mitsui Memorial Hospital in Japan and a General Thoracic Surgery Fellowship at St. Marianna University Hospital. After moving to the United States in 2006, Dr. Tsukada completed an Interventional Pulmonology and Thoracic Surgery Research Fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and an Interventional Pulmonology Fellowship at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center.During this time, he also received his Doctorate of Philosophy at St. Marianna University. His training includes rigid and flexible bronchoscopies, airway stenting, endobronchial lasers, percutaneous tracheostomies, endobronchial ultrasounds, bronchial thermoplasties (BT) for asthma, medical thoracoscopies, Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) and standard thoracic surgical procedures. He has also been active in the BWH Lung Center, and currently leads the Tracheobronchial Disorders group.
